Passed Away April 18, 2025

De Soto Reep, our loyal and spirited companion, passed away on April 18, 2025, at the age of 16. He was born just north of the Saline River, near Harmony, north of Warren, Arkansas, and he spent a life deeply loved by the Reep family—Rob, Gregg, Beverly, and Jessi.

From the moment he was chosen as a puppy—playfully hiding in a barrel and giving Rob’s hand a little nip—De Soto showed the heart and fire that would define his life. He made his favorite spot the top of the couch back, where he would nap and keep a watchful eye over his home.

Feisty and full of spirit, De Soto was a guard dog, a cuddler, a squirrel chaser, and a daily mailman monitor. He loved tug-of-war, fetching, and exploring every inch of his yard. His loyalty to his people never wavered, and he gave his family comfort, laughter, and companionship through every chapter of life.

After the loss of a beloved family dog, De Soto helped heal the Reep home, filling a gap with his unconditional love and boundless affection. In the years that followed, he continued to be a steady, loving presence through other times of very difficult loss—always offering comfort without words, simply by being there. His personality was one-of-a-kind: fierce when needed, gentle when it mattered most, and always—a very good buddy-ruff, especially to Gregg.

De Soto lived a very long, happy life—one filled with love, purpose, and the simple joys of being part of a close-knit family.

He passed away at the Monticello Animal Clinic. The Reep family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Norris and the Warren Animal Clinic for their years of care and compassion. They would also like to thank South Arkansas Pet Cremations for their kindness and support during this difficult time.

We miss you, De Soto. You were more than a pet—you were family.
